Trip to Florida

This past weekend was the second time my boys have been to visit their grandma. This would be the first time they have been on a place and really be able to experience all it’s wonders. The first time, they were a little too young to truly remember the experience, but even then, they did seem to enjoy the adventure.

The car ride to the airport was a pleasant one with the boys filled with wonder about the upcoming events. The airport was not too bad. Getting through the ticket booth area was good. They had plenty of questions for the person behind the desk. Once we got to the security, the boys started to get a little restless. Can you blame them? No one likes to wait on a line. Finally after about 10 minutes or so, it was our turn. We rounded up the wild kids and they sent us through the regular machine. Good choice. What 4 year old is going to stand still in a big machine with their hands up to be scanned?  They don’t mind the regular machine. Just walk through and all’s done. We got our shoes on and continued to the terminal. Getting to the terminal was more of a pain. The boys just wanted to look everywhere! We went to our regular place to eat food. The boys whined about eating there, but there wasn’t any other place they could eat. They mostly ate their food.  Read more

What’s Going On…

I know, it’s been a while. A couple of milestones have passed and I haven’t even written about them. I’ve been so MIA lately, I apologize!

Hmm, so let’s start by saying. I love the new car! We bought it about a month ago and it’s been doing so well! It’s like a ultimate geek car. it may not be suitable for George Jetson, but it’s got it’s major pluses. I love seeing how much mileage we are able to save and if we can beat it every time we drive. It is definitely a very handy took when trying to save some money and gas mileage with the prices going up lately. I know, it’s an SUV so the gas savings aren’t as good as let’s say a Camry hybrid or Prius, but it’s the best out there for an SUV and it’s practical for us because of the upcoming family needs and the two dogs. We needed the space AND the gas savings. We are definitely not disappointed with our choice.

April 20th was a new milestone for me. Know what it was? The first day of my third trimester!!! That’s right!! I finally made it! I can’t believe it. Now it’s time for back aches, hip softening, and leg cramps. OY! I’ve gotten mine with a vengeance. Can you believe it? The boys switched positions. Kiefer is usually on teh right side, but has switched to the left side and Cameron is now on the right side. Both are still head down though, which is good! The not so good part is somehow, their new position has caused my pelvic bone to twist causing incredible pains in my left leg. For a while it was only the sciatica in my right foot. Now that’s nothing compared to the pain in my left thigh! Read more

What’s Going On…

Well, you’d think our vacation was enough excitement for us. Apparently not!

My hubby needed to see his doctor for an ear humming that has been bugging him for a few weeks now. So, I went with him on Tuesday morning and sat in the waiting room while he saw his doctor. I picked up a reader’s digest and proceeded to read about the FDA. I got a little tired of holding up the small magazine and rested it on my belly for support. Apparently, Kiefer was not too pleased about his new role as a table top and punched the magazine so hard it nearly flew out of my hands. Of course, no one saw what happened, but I don’t help but laugh. I laughed quietly. I think if anyone saw me laugh, however, they’d assume I found something funny in the book I was reading. I just placed my hand on Kiefer and told him I’m sorry and I wouldn’t do that again. I did do as I said and held the magazine up and didn’t rest it on my belly after that. My hubby came back out with a new prescription looking a little unsure of what is happening, or maybe just tired still from the trip back from NY. I couldn’t tell. I told him what happened. He seemed to get a kick out of it (pun pathetically intended). Read more

Big purchases for the adults

Well, we’ve been thinking about his for a while now and it seems the car we have is just not cutting it. It’s a big car and it’d fit just fine as far as family goes, but with the gas prices going up and the car running at about 13 +/- mpg because it’s a V8 is just eating a hole in our finances. Well, it appears that getting a new car is the best thing to do.

We’ve been considering one that says no lower than 17-18 mpg for city driving (mainly 18), but it is hard to find a car that is big enough to fit two medium-large dogs, two children and two adults that has such a low mileage record. The Toyota Highlander is a good car and the only one that allows us to be spoiled and is priced in our range. Read more

OH DEER!

Last night, Jason and I were driving out to eat as we sometimes do when we get too lazy to make something at home. We were just passing our local grocery store when I saw a family of deer on the grassy area near by the food store. I saw a silhouette of the largest of the four dear standing looking at me cautiously as I drove closer to it. My guess is he wasn’t sure if he could cross, but I slowed down since you just never know what deer are thinking. I slowed down enough to stop immediately if I had to, but off in the distance and around the corner, I saw the lights of another car coming towards me at a fast pace. All I could think of was, “Oh No!” In fact, I think I said it out loud. My hubby sitting next to me didn’t realize what I saw nor said, but looked ahead just as the car was speeding around the corner. I knew it was going to happen. The big dear decided to cross. I don’t know if it saw the other car, or it just didn’t realize it was that close nor that fast. I couldn’t believe my eyes! The car smacked the side of the deer, spinning the deer around in a circle flipping him off to the side and in front of me. I stopped as I watched the poor thing stumble his way to the side of the road. Hy hubby and I were in total shock as the car that hit him drove off slowly and the deer was struggling to get up. Luckily, the deer did eventually get up and although a bit weak, he did manage to get up on all fours and continue into the forest after the rest of his family made it’s way across the street into the forest. Jason got out of the car to watch and see if the other car was going to turn around. Sure enough, he did and can back behind us. Apparently, he was more worried if the deer hit us too since we were not moving much at all. He only noticed some fur on his car, but didn’t seem all that concerned about the deer. Read more
